About the studio · Est. 2014

We don't shoot weddings.
We remember them.

Wedding Story Nepal is a small, intentional studio of photographers and filmmakers. For twelve years, we've quietly documented the people, rituals and unscripted moments that make a Nepali wedding feel like a lifetime in a single day.

Our Story

A twelve-year love letter to Nepali weddings.

From a single borrowed camera to two studios and a team of twelve — here's how we got here.

  • 2014

    A first frame

Two friends, one borrowed camera, and a backyard mehendi in Butwal. The studio is unofficially born.

  • 2017

    A second city

We open our Kathmandu studio and start documenting Newar, Hindu and inter-cultural ceremonies side by side.

  • 2020

    Films, properly

Our cinematic team grows. Long-form wedding films, same-day edits and teasers become a signature offering.

  • 2023

    Beyond borders

Destination weddings take us to Pokhara, Lumbini, Goa and Bali — always with the same intimate approach.

  • 2026

    Now

850+ weddings, a team of 12 storytellers, and one quiet obsession: making images that age well.

The Founder

Hari Krishna Gyawali

Founder · Lead Photographer

"I grew up in a family where every wedding was a four-day affair — and the only photographs that survived were a handful of blurry studio portraits. I started this studio so that no one's grandchildren would have to ask the same question I did: what did it actually feel like?"

— Hari

What we believe

Four things that shape every frame.

Authentic Storytelling

No forced poses. We document the day as it actually unfolds — the tears, the laughter, the in-between.

Cinematic Craft

Painterly light, considered composition, films that feel like cinema rather than a recap reel.

Discreet Presence

We move like guests, not paparazzi. Your family barely notices we're there until the album arrives.

Lifetime Archive

Hand-edited, color-graded and delivered in a private gallery you can revisit for decades.

The Process

From hello to heirloom — in five steps.

  1. 1

    Discover

A relaxed call to understand who you are.

  2. 2

    Plan

    Tailored moodboard, timeline & locations.

  3. 3

    Capture

Photo + film team on the day, fully in flow.

  4. 4

    Curate

Hand-pick, edit and color-grade every frame.

  5. 5

    Deliver

    Private gallery, heirloom album, films.
