Most weddings we photograph in Butwal are Hindu ceremonies spread over two or three days: mehendi and haldi at home, the janti's arrival, kanyadaan, sindoor and the farewell, then a reception in a hotel or party palace. Much of what families remember happens in the courtyard rather than on the stage, so home rituals are part of the coverage, not an extra.
We do not pose people through the ritual. If the priest is talking, the priest is talking. The portraits happen in the time we ask for before the reception, and that is the only part of the day we run.
